Our journey to net-zero

Publishers are facing greater pressure to demonstrate their commitment to the environment, and we are in an ideal place to help them, as we have great credentials in sustainability.

Our journey to net-zero is well underway, and we were delighted to receive a Gold award from EcoVadis, recognising our industry-leading commitment to sustainable business operations.

Only 5% of companies assessed by EcoVadis globally have achieved a Gold rating, providing verified assurance to our customers that their print products are produced to the highest sustainability standards.

Science based target

We are one of the first printing companies to agree a Science Based Targets initiative, setting a near-term target to reduce our scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 42% by 2030.

Scope 1 covers direct emissions from owned or controlled sources, whilst scope 2 covers indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity.

Through our current mix of wind-powered electricity and on-site PV panels, we are well positioned to achieve this target, whilst also monitoring and reducing GHG emissions within our upstream and downstream supply chains (scope 3 emissions).

Science Based

Carbon-balanced printer

We have become a Carbon Balanced Printer with the World Land Trust. This scheme offsets our scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions by investing in the protection and restoration of threatened habitats and wildlife around the world.

Additionally, we have ensured that almost 100% of our paper and cardboard cartons are FSC-certified.

Sourcing paper from renewable and well-managed forests is part of a wider process to reduce the environmental impact of our paper, inks, glues and consumables across our print production.

Our donations to the World Land Trust have helped to protect over 30 acres of rainforest so far

Our sustainable future

At Hobbs, our environmental impact is front of mind within our management team and across all departments.

It is our ambition to become the UK’s most sustainable printing service, which we feel is essential to serving our customers and helping publishers to deliver on their own sustainability targets.

If you have specific questions regarding our sustainability credentials, please feel free to send us an email and myself or a colleague would be delighted to help you.
